Shakespeare and macbeth help?

Read Act One, Scene Two (the scene just before the witches meet Macbeth). Toward the end of that scene, King Duncan orders the Thane of Cawdor executed for treason, and bestows the condemned man's title on Macbeth. When Macbeth hears the witches hail him as Thane of Cawdor, he has not yet heard the news from the King.
