Would we need to put another Saddam in charge of Iraq before we withdraw?

That's a good question and I have always said that we should not be so wrapped up on giving them democracy but instead a government that they are happy with and that we can trust and have as an ally. That part of the world with it's long history of conflict, radical type religious zealots and clerics together with it's culture and the introduction of things like television, satellite communication, the internet are causing huge cultural clashes within itself. Don't forget all the other clashes due to ethnic groups that also exist. I don't think we need to toss a democratic form of government into that existing turmoil and then expect it to fix and resolve all that because it won't. Kuwait, UAE and Saudi Arabia to a lesser extent have done just fine without democracy and life is much better and more stable in those countries than in Iraq or Afghanistan.
